Glenn Miller, PaTRAM Male Choir™ Oktavist, Interviewed On WTGE Radio
Glenn Miller, Grammy winner, as most of our readers know, is often featured not just in professional choral recordings but also as a media interviewee. We remind our readers that just a few weeks ago another Glenn Miller interview was featured.
WTGE is a public radio station in the Toledo, OH area. The station has a wide range of purpose, but at heart, is an educational source across many interesting subjects.
Mary Claire Murphy, the interviewer, delves deeply into not only the recording and its machinations but also focuses on Glenn’s impressions about the piece and the depth of Orthodox music. In response to Ms. Murphy’s query about his feelings toward this particular version of the “All-Night Vigil” he says, “This was the pinnacle. To do it in Jerusalem was just the mountaintop beyond our expectations. He (Alex Lukianov) wanted us to pull from the well of spirituality and faith. It was life changing. This is it. This is the real thing.”
The interview is punctuated with clips of the music from the “All-Night Vigil” which gives the interview more musical context than just commentary.
We highly recommend our audience hear this interview with Glenn. You’ll be charmed by his easy-going demeanor, and you’ll learn a lot about both Glenn’s vast technical knowledge of this masterpiece as well as his impressions behind its creation.
