Academies and Master Classes are currently suspended due to COVID-19
Designed and overseen by Academy Executive Director and Co-Founder of PaTRAM Institute™ Katherine Lukianov, the Summer Academy is an event specifically designed to help both aspiring and advanced singers and conductors improve their skills through focused programs and world-class education. The Summer Academy is typically held at St. Alexander Nevsky Diocesan Cathedral in Howell, NJ in June and is staffed by a distinguished faculty. While course threads and curriculum specifics are adjusted from year to year to offer students the most comprehensive instruction, what remains the same is PaTRAM Institute’s commitment to preserving and promoting the sacred musical treasures of the Orthodox world and providing students with an exceptional and transformational experience.

In addition to our Summer Academy we also hold a number of Master Classes for Male Choir with Grammy nominated master conductor and teacher Maestro Vladimir Gorbik throughout the year. These Master Classes are intensives designed specifically for advanced Male Choir students, who wish to greatly improve their Slavonic singing skills. Taught in a small-group setting, during each Master Class singers receive individualized instruction, mentoring, and learn chain breathing and other techniques as practiced at the Holy Trinity St. Sergius Lavra Representation. Most importantly, Maestro Gorbik instructs the choristers in how to best emote prayerful singing for the glory of God and for the faithful. Many of the students who have participated in our Master Classes have gone on to be selected to perform with the choirs on PaTRAM Institute’s professional CDs! The Male Choir Master classes are scheduled to coincide with Pastoral Conferences, Lenten Retreats and feast days and culminate with singer-students singing the hierarchical All-Night Vigil, hierarchical Divine Liturgy and other Divine Services.
